One of the easiest ways to expand the capabilities of your pi-top [4] is by slotting in a Raspberry Pi HAT (Hardware Attached on Top). HATs are expansion boards that connect to the Raspberry Pi’s set of 40 GPIO pins and add functionality such as lights, motors, sensors and fans. 

how to USE A RASPBERRY PI HAT WITH YOUR pi-top [4]?

In this video, we take a look a three Raspberry Pi HATs made by Pimoroni, but there are hundreds, if not thousands of Raspberry Pi HATs on the market, and most of them will work with your pi-top [4] as it gives you access to Raspberry Pi's GPIO pins. 

To use a Raspberry Pi HAT with your pi-top, simply use the provided male pin header connector, attach it onto the bottom of the HAT and then connect it onto your pi-top [4]. We also include in the box a few magnetic standoffs that will hold the HAT in place. 

And that's it! Once the Raspberry Pi HAT is connected you can start having fun with it.
